Summer Advice for Dog Walkers

Summer is here and I love walking the dogs when the sun is shining! I’ve already got myself a great tan and the dogs love frolicking in the long grass.

I’ve bought myself a (not so) stylish bum bag to store clean poo bags, my phone and, most importantly, lots of treats and biscuits. It’s also great for hanging a water bottle from so we can have lots of pit stops to keep the dogs cool.

In the very high heat, I try to find places to walk with shady spots so the dogs don’t over heat. Some dogs get hotter than others so when we get back to the van they have plenty of time to cool off with the doors open before we drop them home.

During the summer months, I’d recommend you take a 1.5l – 2.0l bottle of water for yourself along with another one for the dogs (maybe even two!). I leave the big bottles in the van and have the smaller dog bottle that I can fill up on each walk and take with me.

I’d also highly recommend that you stock up on sun cream if you’re going to be out walking most of the day. I do the group walks in the hottest part of the day and always make sure I’m wearing factor 30 as I burn very easily.
